Kupang, West Nusa Tenggara Province

Kupang is the capital city of East Nusa Tenggara Province, where the biggest port in Timor Island is situated. It has a potential in tuna fishery that needs a proper management system. MDPI’s fishery improvement activity in Kupang started in 2013 covers 1 village with 2 on-site staff who lives and involves in the local fisher communities. Our program implementation supports evidence-based co-management through data collection on small-scale fisheries, capacity building of fishers to enable involvement in management discussions. We have improved the fishery management of more than 332 fishers and 50+ community members alike.
