Fundamental Human Rights Section
The Fair Trade standard includes a section on Fundamental Human Rights and it is MDPI’s responsibility to promote a no discrimination environment in the Fisher Associations, Fair Trade Committee and introduce the standard to the factory partners and assist them in including this into their corporate standards. Included in this standard is to ensure children and young persons are protected, where children should not be involved in any stage of the catching, transport or production of the Fair Trade product. Whenever a young person is found to be working, certain actions need to be implemented according to the standard to protect the rights of the young person. There are additional requirements related to no bondage labor in the stakeholder’s operations, making sure the recruitment process done fairly, each employee having their fair agreement according to the Labor Law of Indonesia and that employees have a work contract.
