Monterey Bay Aquarium – Multi-Stakeholder Group
Our director of Programs and Research, Momo has been a member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium (MBA) Seafood Watch Program (SFW) Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG) for 2 years now. The groups objective is to be the final decision-making body with the main goal of the MSG to approve the final standards for publication. The 2nd meeting of the group was convened at the Monterey Bay Aquarium on October 4-5th, 2016. The primary purpose of this meeting was to discuss and vote on the Seafood Watch Standards for Wild-Capture Salmonids as well as proposed updates to the SFW Fisheries and Aquaculture Standards since the last convening. In addition, aspects and discussions were had on in-progress work on Standard Credibility including Assurance, Claims and Measuring Impacts. There were additional discussions on new tools that Seafood Watch has developed including the Greenhouse Gas Emission Tool and the Human Rights Risk Tool.
As always the Seafood Watch team were great hosts and the fellow members on the stakeholder group a wealth of knowledge and an inspiring group to be around. We would like to give a shout out to the Seafood Watch team, firstly for being great hosts and most importantly for all the amazing work they are doing…Well done guys, you inspire us!
