Data Collection

The port sampling approach used is named I-Fish. I-Fish uses an online system to collate fisheries data from throughout Indonesia using scientific protocols which match national government and regional management bodies (RFMO) requirments. Sampling aims to collect 20% of total landings in active sites.

These port based interviews with fishermen aim to understand the encounter rate with Endangered Threatened and Protected species. This aims to identify the impact of the fishery on ETPs. The fate of ETPs encontered is also documented. Sampling targets 5% of all landing vessels.

This data collection aims to collect total production per monitoring site. This is less detailed than port sampling but more complete in c overage, as it aims to target 100% of landings per monitoring site.

Logbooks are a legal requirement. Deployment, especially in small scale vessels is limited to date.  This activity signifies the supply chain and NGO partner working with the fishermen to initiate complaince to logbook regulation.
